§ 1. GENERAL TERMS

1. Regulations – the Regulations here below.
2. Races – event called Sztafeta Gorska that will have 2 races on the same distance of 73,3 km:
1) Relay Race 3×20+ – route is divided into 3 distinct legs, Teams of 3 runners
2) Solo Race 73km – distance approximately 73 km, one-person ultra race

5. Registration fee – mandatory fee that covers the cost of participation in the Race. The payment of the fee is mandatory for the enrolment.
6. Participant – adult runner (on the day of the Race he/her has to be 18 years old) who correctly filled up the registration form at www.maratongorstolowych.pl or registered in person at the Headquarters (if there are places available), paid the registration fee in the amount indicated in the Regulations and put his/her readable signature on the suitable statement prior to the Races.
7. Team – 3 runners that participate in Relay Race 3×20+ under one name declared during the enrolment. Each Team will be given a distinct starting number, common for all the 3 runners of the Team.
8. Start: Park Zdrojowy in Kudowa-Zdroj – Teatr pod Blacha, 13th of April 2019 (Saturday) at 06:30.
9. Finish line: Park Zdrojowy in Kudowa-Zdroj – Teatr pod Blacha

12. Participation in the Races is voluntary and paid.
13. The Organization dissuades the participation in the Races to the persons that are not allowed to exercise an important physical effort. The Participants are the only ones responsible for assessing their physical ability and health.

§ 2. ROUTE

1. The route follows the tourist trails in Polish and Czech areas of Stolowe Mountains. It is very technical, with an important elevation gain and many obstacles as rocks or steep curves. You can expect snow and ice.
2. The route will be marked with the Organization’s tapes and washable chalk, the turns will be marked with arrows. There will be race judges at some points.
3. There will be Refreshment Posts with water, isotonic drinks and snacks.
4. The Participant who gets to a Control Point after the cut off will not be classified. They have to exit the race, take the race bib off and follow the race staff’s instructions.

§ 3. RACES

I. Relay Race 3×20+

1. Legs, elevation gain, time limits
Relay Race 3×20+ is divided into 3 distinct legs:
1) Etap 1 (E1) – first leg – distance 28,7 km (Kudowa-Zdroj – Hvezda), elevation gain: +1460m/-1150m
Time limit: 5h, counted from the start.
2 Refreshment Posts.
2) Etap 2 (E1) – second leg – distance 21,7 km (Hvezda – Karlow), elevation gain: +1000m/-945m.
Time limit: 9h, counted from the start of the first relay runner of the Team.
1 Refreshment Post.
3) Etap 3 (E3) – third leg – distance 22,9 km (Karlow – Kudowa Zdroj)
, elevation gain: +540m/-903m.
Time limit: 13h, counted from the start of the first relay runner of the Team.
1 Refreshment Post.

Only after finishing the first leg (Etap 1) by the first relay runner, the second relay runner can start the second leg (Etap 2), and so on. The time of crossing the finish line by the third relay runner will be taken into account in the general classification.

2. Control Points, Refreshment Posts, Exchange Zones.
There will be 2 Exchange Zones as well as 4 Control Points together with Refreshment Posts with the maximum authorized time (counted from the start) that allows the Participants to continue the race.

Etap 1 (E1) – first leg
Refreshment Post A – approximately 9,8 km – Błędne Skały – 2h15min (up to 08:45)
Refreshment Post B – approximately 16,2 km – Nad U Zabiteho – 3h (up to 09:30)
Exchange Zone 1 (Z1) – approximately 28,7 km – Hvezda – 5h (up to 11:30)

Etap 2 (E2) – second leg
Refreshment Post B – approximately 41,7 km – Nad U Zabiteho – 7h30min (up to 14:00)
Strefa zmian 2 (Z2) – approximately 50,4 km – Karlow, Osrodek PNGS – 9h (up to 15:30)

Etap 3 (E3) – third leg
Refreshment Post A – approximately 64 km – Bledne Skaly – 12h (up to 18:30)
Finish line – Kudowa-Zdroj – 13h (up to 19:30)

The next (second and then third) relay runner can start only after the previous one arrives and touches him/her. The changes take place in the Exchange Zones next to the finish lines of the respective legs.

At each finish line there will be drinks and snacks available for the Participants.

3. Transport.
To get to the Exchange Zones 1-Hvezda and 2-Karlow the Participants can choose to use their own transport or during the check-in buy the tickets for Organization’s shuttles.

II. Solo Race 73km

1. Distance – approximately 73,3 km.
2. Time limit: 13h.
3. Elevation gain: +3000/-3000 m.
4. Control Points, Refreshment Posts, time limits*
There will be 6 Control Points that will work also as Refreshment Posts with the maximum authorized time (counted from the start) that allows the Participants to continue the race.

1) approximately 9,8 km – Refreshment Post A – Bledne Skaly – 2h15min (up to 08:45)
2) approximately 16,2 km – Refreshment Post B – Nad U Zabiteho – 3h (up to09:30)
3) approximately 28,7 km – Refreshment Post Z1 (Exchange Zone 1 for Relay Race 3x 20+) – Hvezda – 5h (up to 11:30)
4) approximately 41,7 km – Refreshment Post B – Nad U Zabiteho – 7h30min (up to 14:00)
5) approximately 50,4 km – Refreshment Post Z2 – Karlow (Exchange Zone 2 for Relay Race 3x 20+) – Osrodek PNGS – 9h (up to 15:30)
6) approximately 64,0 km – Refreshment Post A – Bledne Skały 12h (up to 18:30)

Finish line – Kudowa-Zdroj – 13h (up to 19:30)

*The time limit is challenging – minimum average pace is 5,64 km/h.

§ 4. OBLIGATORY AND RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

1. The Participants have to carry throughout the entire race:
race bib + chip
ID or passport (the race goes into Czech Republic)
working mobile phone with roaming
cup or water bottle – minimum 0,5l*
buff or hat
space blanket
The Participant who is still on the route after 18.00 has to have a headlamp.

*There will be no disposable cups either bottles available for drinking during the races.

2. Recommended equipment:
windproof jacket
food – at least 300 kcal

3. Not carrying the obligatory equipment may result in a penalty (10 minutes for each item). Not carrying race bib or chip will mean disqualification.

4. Checking the Participants on the obligatory equipment can occur randomly before the race, during it or at the Finish line.

§ 5. ENROLMENT AND REGISTRATION FEE

1. The Participant commits to take part in the Races accordingly to the law, social rules, good manners and these Regulations.
2. To enrol, the Participant has to accept the Regulations and check all the required permissions.
3. The registration has been open since 1st of October 2018 9:00
4. Maximum number of Participants for Relay Race – 250 Teams of 3 runners. For Solo Race 73km – 250 runners. Those numbers include 10 spots per race remaining at the disposal of the Organization (for the invited guests). If the limit number of 250 for one of the races is not attained, the Organization can increase the limit for the other race. Taken into account are only the correctly filled registration forms followed by transfer of the registration fee to the bank account indicated in the Regulations.
5. In Relay Race 3×20+ one runner can only be member of one relay Team.
6. Every Participant has to check in at the Headquarters after arrival and confirm his/her participation in person and with an ID. The above mentioned confirmation is the actual moment when his/her participation in the race begins. To enrol, you have to correctly fill the registration form on our website and pay the registration fee.
7. The members of relay teams enrol as one Team. Individual registrations will not be taken into account.

8. Registration fee:

1) Relay Race 3×20+
The registration fee depends on the date when the transfer is registered on the Organization’s account:
– 360 PLN/team (120 PLN/runner) – paid from 1st of October to30th of November 2018 + 50PLN for 1 technical t-shirt
– 420 PLN/team (140PLN/runner) – paid from 1st od December 2018 to 15th of March 2019 + 50 PLN for 1 technical t-shirt
– 480 PLN/team (160 PLN/runner) – paid after 15th of March 2019 (we don’t guarantee the full gift package)
Shuttle fee (optional):
• Kudowa – Hvezda – 15 PLN per person
• Hvezda – Kudowa – 15 PLN per person
• Kudowa – Karlow – 15 PLN per person
• Karlow – Kudowa – 15 PLN per person

2) Solo Race 73km
The registration fee depends on the date when the transfer is registered on the Organization’s account:
– 140 PLN – paid from 1st of Octoberto 15th of December 2018 + 50 PLN technical t-shirt
– 165 PLN – paid from 16th of December 2018 to 15th of March 2019 + 50 PLN technical t-shirt
– 190 PLN – paid after 15th of March 2019 (we don’t guarantee the full gift package)

9. Registration fee has to be paid via our website or by wire transfer. Data for the wire transfer is as follows*:

*When paying by wire transfer, you have to write the code you’ve been given during the enrolment.

10. The Participants might be asked to present the proof of payment during their check-in at the Headquarters.
11. The date of the payment is the day when the money transfer of the full fee is registered at the Organization’s bank account.
12. The fee is not valid if the person hasn’t completed the registration form or if it’s paid after the due date or if it’s registered after the limit number of the Participants has been reached. In that case the fee will be returned to the account it was sent from.
13. The registration form will be closed after the limit number of correctly registered runners has been reached and their fee received.
14. The reimbursement of the registration fee is possible only in very special circumstances, when the resignation doesn’t depend on the person. The amount reimbursed will be determined by on the date of the resignation. The Organization will calculate the following penalties with reference to total cost of the course:
– before 10th of January 2019 – 30 % of the fee paid
– from 11th of January 2019 to 10th of March 2019 – 50% of the fee paid
– After 10th of March 2019 the registration fee will not be reimbursed.
15. A transfer of the registration fee to another Participant (Solo Race 73km) or another Team (Relay Race 3×20+) is possible only before the 20th of March 2019. There’s 30 PLN of handling fee. After the 20th of March 2019, the registration fee can’t be transferred to another Participant or Team.
16. A change of maximum 2 members of Relay Team (Relay Race 3×20+) is possible only before 12th of April 2019 name of the Team has to remain the same.
17. Shortened race, change of the route, change of the race schedule or cancelling the Race after it has started are not the reasons to reimburse the registration fee to the Participants.
18. In case the Race gets cancelled before it has started, the Participants will get their registration fee reimbursed.
19. The gift packages will not be sent.
20. The Participants who purchased the t-shirt can pick it up until 12thof April 2019. This can be done in person or by somebody carrying a written authorization. Mailing a t-shirt is possible and it involves an additional fee of 25 PLN. You have to ask for it before 5th of April 2019. After that day the t-shirts will not be sent.

§ 6. BENEFITS

1. The registration fee includes:
participation in the race and service during the race
race t-shirt (it costs additional 50 PLN, you have to order it during the registration and specify the size you want)
access to the bathrooms before and after the race
race bib
snacks and drinks during the race
meal after the race
medical assistance
race judges
trophies, diplomas and small prizes for the best finishers
additional activities (concert, Party Time)
possibly other gifts from the Organization
2. All the finishers will be also awarded with a medal.
3. We do not guarantee the full gift package for the Participants registered after the 15th of March 2019.
4. Gift packages for the Relay Race runners will be given only if the whole Team is present at the Headquarters. The packages will not be given to the Participants that shows up individually.

§ 7. CLASSIFICATIONS

1. For Solo Race 73km there will be classification:
OPEN (Women and Men together) – places 1 to 6
OPEN WOMEN – places 1 to 3
and classification by Age Groups (K = Women, M = Men):
K-20, M-20 (born 1990-2000)
K-30, M-30 (born 1989-1980)
K-40, M-40 (born 1979-1970)
K-50, M-50 (born 1969-1960)
K-60, M-60 (born 1959 and older)

2. For Relay Race 3×20+ there will be classification:
OPEN (Women and Men together) – places 1 to 6
OPEN WOMEN (3 women in one Team) – places 1 to 3
OPEN MIX (women and men in one Team) – places 1 to 3

3. There will be not classification by Age Groups for Relay Race 3×20+.
4. In Relay Race 3×20+ there have to be 3 distinct relay runners. The next (second and then third) relay runner can start only after the previous one arrives and touches him/her. The changes take place in the Exchange Zones next to the finish lines of the respective legs.The time of crossing the finish line by the third relay runner will be taken into account in the general classification.
5. The classification is based on the time measurement done by an electronic chip fixed to the Participant’s shoe.
6. The Participants will get their chip at the Headquarters together with the race bib and the instruction how to attach it.
7. During the races the Participants will encounter detection mats that will record their time in the computer system.
8. The Participants have to return the chip to the Headquarters immediately after finishing the race.
9. Failure to do that or a lack of the time record in any of the Control Points may result in a disqualification.
10. The classification is based on the brutto time (counted from the starting shot).

§ 8. PRIZES

1. Relay race 3×20+
1) OPEN Classification
1st place – financial prize of 4000 PLN/team, a trophy, diplomas for the 3 members of the team
2 – 3 places – prizes, a trophy, diplomas for the 3 members of the team
4 – 6 places – diplomas for the 3 members of the team

2) OPEN WOMEN Classification
1 – 3 places – prizes, a trophy, diplomas for the 3 members of the team

3) OPEN MIX Classification
1 – 3 places – prizes, a trophy, diplomas for the 3 members of the team

2. Solo Race 73km
1) OPEN Classification
1st place – a trophy, diploma, prizes
2 – 6 places – diploma, prizes

2) OPEN WOMEN Classification
1st place – a trophy, diploma, prizes
2 – 3 places – diploma, prizes

3) Classification by Age Groups
1 – 3 places – diplomas, small gifts

3. During the Awards Ceremony there will be a lottery with attractive prizes for all the Participants. The drawing will be done by the persons indicated by the Organization.
4. One Participant can be awarded with several prizes.
5. The prizes will be awarded only to the Participants present at the Awards Ceremony. If the Participant is not present in person, the prize will not be awarded and will get withdrawn.
6. The Organization is the payer of 10% tax from the financial prize when its value exceeds 760 PLN per person, accordingly to the tax regulations. The Organization will deduce 10% of the prize and transfer it to the tax office.
7. The Organization reserves the right to add other classifications and prizes.

§ 9. SAFETY

1. Time limit is 13h. The Participants who will not get to the Control Points or to the Finish line within the maximum authorized time, will not get classified. They have to leave the route and inform the Organization about that fact (see ROUTES).
2. The Race will happen no matter what the weather will be. If very difficult climate conditions occur during the race, it can get shortened. We also require the Participants to be able to asses the situation in the mountain and to react accordingly to the changing weather conditions.
3. The Participants have to carry the obligatory equipment throughout the entire race (see § 4. OBLIGATORY EQUIPMENT above)
4. The Participants are asked to follow to the instructions of the race staff and in case of a rescue to the orders of the rescue team.
5. In the cases described by the regulations of Poland or Czech Republic the Participant may be charged with the costs of rescue, for example when he/she hasn’t followed the instructions of the rescue team.

§ 10. EXTERNAL SUPPORT, ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT

1. An external support (family, friends, coaches) is allowed only at the Refreshment Posts.
2. Food and drinks at the Refreshment Posts are meant exclusively for the Participants.
3. The supporters are not allowed to run together with the Participants.
4. The external aid form the coaches, doctors and medical staff is forbidden outside the Refreshment Posts.
5. Due to a possibly fast pace of running during the Relay Race 3×20+, it is forbidden to run with dogs.

§ 11. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

1. On the entire route the Participants have to follow the general rules of environmental protection, included for example in the regulations of Stolowe Mountains National Park and in particular it is forbidden:
– to leave trash in the forest (all the food packages, cup, bottles and other items need to be trashed in the bins within the Refreshment Posts)
– to get out of the marked way
– to make noise
2. The Participants who break the above rules will be disqualified.

§ 12. COMPLAINTS

1. A Participant can make a complaint if the Races do not follow those Regulations.
2. The complaint has to be mailed to Fundacja Maratony Gorskie, Wrzosowa 11, 57-350 Kudowa Zdroj, Poland or emailed to biuro@maratonygorskie.pl.
3. The Organization will respond to a mailed or emailed complaint within 14 days.
4. The response to the complaint will be sent exclusively by email if the Participant doesn’t declare he/she wants a response by mail.

§ 13. PERSONAL DATA AND RIGHT TO PRIVACY

1. Prior to the Races the Participants will be asked to sign the consent for processing their personal data by the Organization, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act dated 29th of August 1997 (Journal of Laws 2014, item 1182 as amended). The consent is mandatory for the participation in the Races.
2. The personal data will be processed in order to organize the Races that are the subject of these Regulations.
3. The Participant will always have access to his/her data in order to verify, rectify or remove it.
4. Prior to the Races the Participants will be asked to sign the consent for publication of their image in the documentation of the Races that will be published on the internet, in the media as well as in the promotional materials of the Organization and its partners.

§ 14. FINAL TERMS

1. During the race, the runners have to wear the race bib fixed on the front side of their shirt. Covering the race bib entirely or partially or any modification to it is strictly forbidden and may result in a disqualification.
2. After the race has finished, a random anti-drug control can be carried out. Each Participant indicated by the anti-drug commission has to accept being controlled under threat of disqualification.
3. The relay Race Sztafeta Gorska is an event protected with liability insurance.
4. An individual insurance which would cover the consequences of an injury or an accident that might happen during the race must be paid by every Participant independently.
5. The enrolment gift packages that haven’t been picked up will not be mailed.
7. The Organization reserves the right to change the Regulations for important reasons. Every change will be announced on the website or the information might be emailed to the Participants. The changes will be applied no earlier than in 2 days after the announcement. The changes in the Regulations will not be aimed at contravene the rights acquired by the Participants beforehand.
8. For any matters not governed by this Regulation, Polish or Czech Republic’s law (in case of Ultra Race) shall apply.
9. The Regulations take effect on 21st of November 2017.
